Data Recovery Ain’t No Fun

You always need to have a current backup of your hard drive. It seems people think they’re going to get a warning when their hard disk is about to go kaput. Maybe so, but it doesn’t always happen. When my HD died about two months ago, I was browsing through my e-mail. All of a sudden, the computer froze, and that was the end of it. While it did make noises when I tried to reboot, that wasn’t what I would call a warning. More like taps for my hard drive. Luckily I didn’t have to start looking for data recovery software or services, because I had a fairly recent backup (about a week old). Even then, it was a pain to replace what I lost for just that week. I shudder to think about having no backup at all! So do what everybody says to do, and start regular backups of your computer.
