What Is Not A Vitamin?
You know, online a lot of terms tend to get used interchangeably. This is true of vitamins as well, and it can get a little inaccurate. For example, you can almost define vitamins by listing what nutrients are not vitamin! This set of nutrients includes amino acids, antioxidants (although some vitamins are antioxidants - it’s just that not all antioxidants are vitamins). It also includes Phytochemicals like lutein, the carotenoids, essential fatty acids, and even minerals.
These nutrients are still pretty important for health. In fact, some like minerals, the amino acids, and even essential fatty acids, are, well, essential for health. They’re just not vitamins!
