Settling Credit Card Debt
Just how you go about settling your credit card debt will depend to a very large extent upon how much debt you have, what funds you have available to settle the debt and whether or not your credit cards are still being managed by your credit card companies, or whether they have already been passed over to a debt collection agency. There is no doubt that, whatever your financial position, settling credit card debt is much easier if the credit card companies are still managing your accounts and so you should try to negotiate a payment plan with these companies before they pass your debt on if you possibly can. You will have a bit of time, but most companies will pass your debt on once you are more than 120 days in arrears and some will do so after just 90 days.
