The Biggest Network
I wondered which mobile phone network coverage was the biggest, but there is no way to tell how many square miles a network covers. The major carriers use a different kind of measurement which is a head count of the number of people located in the service area whether they are hooked up to the carrier or not. The size is measured by the number of people who could reach the network if they wanted to. Cingular, Verizon and Sprint reach between 270 and 295 million people each, and the companies focus on urban areas where the most people live.
